B Tech, a name which is often listened around. A four year engineering degree, B Tech is the academic qualification for the students to be eligible for engineering job. After B Tech, whether the students get the job or not, the question always persist in their mind – What to do after B Tech? Yes, I am talking about studying further. Students who do not get desired jobs, plan to study further and others who get job too plan to study further for enhancement of qualification, knowledge and exposure. Let us try to find which study will be more beneficial for you – M Tech or MBA?

One who has not got the desired job and wants to add further qualification should go for M Tech degree as it will help for him to enhance technical skills. Lack of technical skills is the most prominent reason behind somebody’s unemployability and reason behind anybody lacking in these required skills can be any personal or student’s negligence during B Tech. M Tech degree is another chance for such students to brush up their skills to become employable. There is myth about M Tech that its more an academic degree and there is very less practical work in it. This is true that more part of M Tech is academic, but thesis and dissertation has good weightage and these help students to acquire technical skills. There are lots of companies who prefer M Tech people as their prospective employees. Some students choose MBA after B Tech to add higher qualification to get a job, but those students face problem as both qualifications clash in terms of skills and knowledge. So, there is always a confusion about specialization of that candidate – Engineering or Management.

Other students are those who get jobs after B Tech and after spending two or three years in job, plan to study further. Such students get exposure day to day learning from various jobs they perform. This also helps them to enhance their technical skills by performing various real time practical works. Is M Tech degree required for such people? No, I feel so because their technical level becomes more than an M Tech degree holder. They require a qualification which helps them to enhance their personality traits like management abilities, resources management, communication skills and so on. MBA degree will definitely make these professionals acquaint with various management skills required. It will be easy for them to understand and implement various management terminologies.

An MBA degree helps professionals to accrue knowledge about management concepts which is used in day to day official and personal aspects. It’s easy to pursue and scheduled work does get disturbed. Almost all professional choose distance education MBA as it’s convenient and flexible to pursue study and work together.

One who asks what is use of further study after B Tech, the best answer is there is no loss at all. Studying further adds weightage for further promotion and adding skills set. So, go for further degree according to the job and employment status of the pursuant.
