Never ignore engine check indicator – Most of the new car models come with engine check indicator which start igniting if there is any problem approaching or occurring in engine. If indicator is warning for an engine check, take your car to service station to have it examined. Better to control the problem in initial stage before it intensifies.

Check car’s filters and liquids regularly – Even if service is scheduled a long time ahead, keep a check on brake, clutch, coolant and engine oil level in the car. Also keep check on air filters, if required, get it changed before the scheduled service. Commonly we think to get all things dome together at time of service but if any of these things require changed before the service time, your car may start giving problems. Checking all these thing does not require to be much technical, you can easily these basis examines.

Keep engine on for some time in winters – Usually we start the engine and instantly put the gear and accelerating the car. This practice is very harmful for engine in winters. Give time of 2-3 minutes for petrol engine and 5-7 minutes for diesel engine in winters. This will save engine from wearing it up internally and giving long life.

Keep watch on tyres – The entire burden of the car is loaded on tyres, thus good condition of tyres is always required. Keep a regular check on air pressure, wheel alignment and condition of tyres. Running car on low air pressured tyres makes engine to take more load impacting mileage and engine life. If tyre’s condition is below the safety mark, there will be less control over the high speed car.

Rapidly acceleration – We mostly accelerate the car rapidly after putting it into gear. It does more rotations of the pistons than the capacity of engine. Apart from reducing mileage, rapid acceleration shortens engine life.
Follow the service schedule – Service schedule of the car depends upon time duration, kilometers run, driving conditions & any apparent problem indication. Never exceed the service schedule irrespective of time & kilometers run.

Keep interiors as well as exteriors clean – Never keep your car dirty and wash & clean it regularly. Dust outside and inside car slowly penetrate into electrical & instrumental panel. If you wipe front windscreen with a wiper which has dust accumulated on, there will be bruises marks on windscreen which may impair visibility as well as appearance of windscreen.

Do not drive roughly – Rough driving impacts overall life of the car. Many people do not change driving style according to climatic, weather, road & day conditions. A sudden pothole approached and you will not be able to control speed and car will go through the pothole with high speed. It will reduce life of suspension & imbalance wheel alignment. So, change your driving style according to driving conditions. Road is to drive and reach your destination, not a race track.

Apply these suggestions and see the difference, your car will give more performance with long life and less maintenance cost. Your car is like your companion which ensures you safely reach at your destination provided you fulfill the requirements which the car expects from you. Enjoy your driving!
