The combination of an individual’s psychological state, intellectual power, emotional state and physical appearance when presented to others conclude the personality of the individual. We often hear about someone having great abilities to present all above characteristics to a group and call that person a great personality. Sometimes we misunderstand a personality by linking it with physical appearance only, though it’s an important feature of the personality but all characteristics or traits are equally contributed to form a perfect or complete personality. An impressive personality makes an individual successful on all fronts making him a valuable asset for the organization. So, let’s find out the major determinants of somebody’s personality and the major steps to improve the personality.

The major determinant of personality is heredity, i.e., biological factor such as physique, complexion, appearance health and other biological factors transmitted from parents or generations in an individual. Sometimes we hear about any individual having same habits or appearance as parents or grandparents because of transmission of these factors from parentage. The next factor for personality determination the environment in which an individual is born & brought up. Individual born in an environment with highly educated and professional status will have more chances to have an impressive personality as compared to someone born in an environment having lack of guidance and resources.

Time and place of brought up period of individual is also major determinant of personality. We see periodic change in technologies and techniques and person having knowledge of latest technology or technique is known to have impressive personality thus young generation possess these skills and to meet this trait, individual has to be updated with latest trend. An individual born in rural parts may have less exposure to latest technologies, techniques and methodology as compared to people brought up in big cities. The most important factors in personality determination of an individual are – Education, Exposure & Experience. Someone born and brought up in an environment with limited resources and guidance has chance to possess all factors for impressive personality at any stage of life through education, learning, knowledge and desperation.
