Bank’s new timings – Effective September 2015, will remain closed on second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
Union government has approved long pending demand of bank employees to have alternate Saturdays off. Now all PSU (public sector undertaking) banks will not be working on second and fourth Saturdays of the month and rest all Saturdays of the month will be working. Here is the elaboration of the Saturday’s off, if there are five Saturdays in a month, 2nd and 4th Saturdays will be off and no bank service will be operational on these Saturdays and rest all Saturdays e.g., 1st, 3rd and 5th will be working. In present, bank timings on Saturdays are 10 AM – 1 PM but after implementation of new timings, banks will work full day i.e., 10 AM – 4 PM on working Saturdays as well. New timings and offs will be applicable from 1st September, 2015 and notifications have been sent to all PSU banks.
Bank employees have welcomed this step as it’s very tough job for bank people to handle various bank operations and with two extra offs in a month, employees will be able to rejuvenate themselves and will be back to work on Mondays with enthusiasm and energy. There will no loss of working hours as rest Saturdays will be full day working.
General public has mixed response but most of people feel it will make no difference on them as they will make prior arrangements if banking service is to be used on non working Saturdays. In addition to this, most of people are happy to have long working hours on working Saturdays as they will not have to rush to banks in hurry as presently banks work till 1 PM on Saturdays.
So, when you go to bank next time on Saturdays, make sure you do not go on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month. Let us all hope good results of this move for bankers as well as customers. Efficient and fast banking service is the only expectation of the customers and hope this gets fulfilled.
