Infosys in Mohali – Finally landing.
IT giant Infosys is all set to commence work of developing it’s facilities a Mohali. The announcement was made through a press release of the company. According to the statement of Ramdas Kamanth – Executive Vice President of Infosys, construction work of the Mohali facility will commence by first week of September 2015 and first stage of the development will be completed within 18 months of the commencement. An official meeting held between Infosys representatives and Punjab’s representatives which included Dy. Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Badal, Punjab’s industriy minister Mr. Madan Mohan Mittal and chief parliamentarian secretary Mr. N K Sharma. Mr. Kamanth further stated that the new facility at Mohali will be a win-win situation for both the company and the state. There are more than 2500 employees working in the company from Punjab origin who are keen to shift to Mohali.
Once the facility starts, it will give economic boost to entire area. The Infosys campus at Mohali will be spread over 50 acres of land allotted by Government of Punjab and construction will be held in phases. In the first phase of the construction the company will invest Rs. 425 crore to built up area of 6.5 lakh sq. ft. with seating capacity of 5000 employees.
The Mohali campus has been incorporated with many innovations in building design, energy utilization and water consumption patterns. The building will leverage radiant cooling technology, natural lighting, water recycling and environment friendly materials will be used in it’s construction.
This will be company’s second facility in the region as one facility has been operational since 2006 in IT Park, Chandigarh. With Infosys in Mohali, region is set to be an IT hub and IT professionals from the state will not have to relocate to other cities for their jobs. This will also help to develop good infrastructure like transportation and real estate. With one development, impact is witnessed on development of other things as well hope it is witnessed in Mohali as well.
