M S Dhoni, man behind strongest ever Indian cricket team.
The present Indian cricket team is in strongest form ever as team has secured seventh consecutive win in one day cricket. Apart from one day, team has also been unbeatable in tests & T20 cricket. Team under captaincy of Virat Kohli has attained various records. But in this success of team, name of the person who elevated team to a level which brought strategic approach, can never be forgotten. M S Dhoni, who currently is not captain of Indian squad but still his experience is enough to sail through the team in difficult situations.
At many instances when Dhoni did not play good, various people demanded his substitution and advised him to retire. But Dhoni always bounced back with a befitted reply to the critics. These are several instances when Dhoni facilitated team’s victory in crucial stages of match when game was getting away from India’s grip.
Defeating Australia on its home land, winning tests & ODI series abroad, winning T20 & ODI world cup, bringing India on top successful team and there are several other feats achieved by M S Dhoni. In recent game when India set 338 runs target for New Zealand and guest team was apparently looking very comfortable to chase the target, captain Kohli was seen discussing with Dhoni to tighten India’s grip. Dhoni was seen leading in last moments of the game and restricted New Zealand to 331, seven runs short of the target. Cleverly running out the batsman who was comfortably scoring runs and some other tactics turned the game in India’s favour.
This Isn’t the only instance when Dhoni completely turned the game. Adam Gilchrist, former Australian ace cricketer feels that Indian team probably benefit more than they know by Dhoni’s experience and him just being around. People undervalue Dhoni’s experience and calmness that MS brings to the change room. Gilchrist feels M S Dhoni to be only versatile batsman who can anywhere place between number 3 to 7 and this player should not be underestimated on grounds of under performance in few games.
There are eighteen months left for 2019 world cup. Time is enormous and being game of uncertainties, it’s hard to predict M S Dhoni’s role in 2019 world cup. But one thing is sure that the place of an ingenious, wicket-keeper, batsman and above all a cool-clam player can never be filled. Those who have closely seen M S Dhoni playing, have always observed that he never played for personal records than team’s win & strengthening the team.
In an illustrious career, Dhoni has played 90 Tests, 309 ODIs and 82 T20Is, scoring 4876, 9826 and 1232 runs respectively. Those raising questions over Dhoni’s presence in team need to recall his achievements. All cricket lovers, not only from India but all over the world wish to see Dhoni playing in 2019 world cup. All the best Dhoni!
