Protect yourself from chilling winters, here are some tips.

Mercury is diving all across north India and it’s really freezing temperature outside. Problem is more for those who travel or commute due to job or other reasons. Cold, fever, muscular pain are some common health problems faced by people who remain outdoor in this chilling weather. I would like to explain some ways by which we can protect ourselves from extreme cold conditions.

Outfits and clothing – Wear woolen all the times and windcheater and wind proof gloves while driving two wheeler. Instead wearing too many woolen sweaters prefer wearing a thermal innerwear as it keeps body temperature warm. Wear leather shoes and woolen socks to protect your legs and foot from the cold.

Body and skin care – In winters, skin becomes arid and dry. Take care of skin by applying natural oils like mustard oil, coconut or olive oil. Take shower with mild warm water, do not use very hot water as it extracts natural moisture from the skin. Apply body moisturizer and smooth face cream to maintain moisture level of the body. Prefer to use winter soap.

Indoor and outdoor temperature – We cannot avoid going out in winters thus it becomes very important to maintain indoor temperature. Some people use blower or heater on very high temperature to keep room hot. But when we go out temperature is very low. This imbalance can create some problems like cold, fever, cough or muscular pain. Before going out or getting in, maintain the room temperature according to outside temperature.

Food & beverages – Woolens protect our skin and outer part of the body whereas dry fruits like almond, walnut, dates, saffron, gur and vegetables like spinach, green keep body’s internal temperature warm. Almonds contain natural oil which helps to maintain natural oil and keeps skin smooth. Do not consume cold beverages, refrigerated food. Prefer to have hot coffee as it will help you to feel cozy.

Spices and remedies – Cold and cough are normal in winters, do not take unnecessary medicines and prefer to have natural remedies like ginger tea, cardamom, cloves, pepper and other spices in food. Honey is very good immunizer, take it with warm water. There are some other herbs which help us to get protected in winters and all those herbs are added in Chavyanprash, consume the Chavyanprash of manufacturers like Dabur, Zandu, Baidyanath, Patanjali etc.

These are some ways to protect ourselves from chilling weather. All weathers are necessary of our body but some precautions are required to enjoy the weather without any physical problem. So, don’t get afraid of winters, enjoy it.
