Height of our body is often linked with grooming personality. People having good height look attractive as compared to having less. In India, height between 5’8” and 6 feet is considered good height. Height of people vary, some people develop good height while others do not. People with less height feel inferior in the society. In this post, we try to know the factors behind height of people, how people’s height develops less or high. These are the main factors which impact our height – genetic disorder, imbalance of hormones, unhealthy diet, side effects of medicines, any serious or chronic disease, addiction of drugs, unhealthy living habits and improper sleep. Let me explain all these factors in details as follows –

Genetic disorder – If in your family history any of family members especially parents or grandparents are with less height, chances are there of less height of children.

Hormones Imbalance – Human growth hormones, released from pituitary gland is very useful in developing height by strengthening bones and muscles. Due to imbalance in release of growth hormones, body does not receive required quantity of the hormones which can result less height.

These are the determining factors behind our height. Human height grows till age of sixteen for girls and eighteen for boys. Height stops growing after this age, thus childhood age is crucial and more efforts should be done if parents notice less height growth in childhood. We see various commercials on TV which show medicines claiming to grow height at any age. These are gimmicks only and should not be consumed as such medicines may put some side effects on the body. So, what are the steps required if children are not showing good signs of height developed. Here’re some –

Drink plentiful water – Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day. This will detoxify your body by flushing out toxicants from the body. This keeps metabolism improved and improves the digestion system of the body. When metabolism and digestion work properly, nutrients are maximum utilized in the body which help body to grow.

Milk – Consume a cup of milk every day. Milk is very rich in calcium, vitamin A and protein. All these nutrients are very important for body growth and strengthening the bones.

Sports and physical activities – Sports, especially tennis and basketball help to grow height. These sports involve jumping an running which stretches muscles and help in physical growth. Swimming is very good activity in which all muscles get stretched and help in height growth. Cycling, hanging and skipping rope also make muscles flexible. Spend 8-10 minutes in morning light sun which is a natural source of vitamin D.

Right posture – Many people have good height but due to wrong posture, their height looks less. Sit and stand straight without leaning back or neck.

Healthy eating habits – Very important factor behind height growth, a good diet with all essential nutrients. Children more like chips, chocolates, toffee, pizza, burger and other junk foods. Limit these foods and include healthy food in their diet especially high fiber grains, seasonal vegetables, milk, almonds, fruits and other healthy food. There should not be long gaps in meals and feed them after every 4-5 hours which keeps their metabolism balanced.

Yoga – Various yoga exercises help in height growth. Perform yoga regularly. Tadasna, Paschimotina Asna and Bhujangasna help in stretching muscles and bones.

These are some ways through which height can be increased naturally. This is true that there is a age limit till height grows and there are very rare chances of height growth after that age. But in some instances, height growth has been seen till age of 24-25 years. So, make habits of above suggestions if you notice your children not showing height growth signs. Keep a track of your children’s height and help them to grow their height. After all, good height people are noticed as well groomed.
