WhatsApp ‘breaks up’ with Blackberry and Nokia.

WhatsApp

Are you on WhatsApp? Well, looks very strange question as this widely used application with more than one billion numbers of users is commonly used by all smart phone users. There is shocking ‘break up’ news of WhatsApp with some operating systems by end of this year.

The Facebook owned messaging application has announced the discontinuation of its services on Blackberry and Nokia devices. The operating systems which the application will not work on include BlackBerry 10 — an OS that last shipped on a new phone less than a year and a half ago. BlackBerry itself eschewed the OS when building its latest flagship, the Android-powered Priv slider phone, so perhaps it should come as little surprise that major developers like the Facebook-owned WhatsApp are abandoning it as well.

WhatsApp’s announcement also includes Nokia’s low-end S40 and S60 Symbian platforms, as well as the older Android 2.2 and Windows Phone 7.1 operating systems. The Nokia S40 discontinuation will likely put many users of older Nokia phones in developing countries in a bit of a bind. WhatsApp suggests “upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone” if you want to keep on using the service — if not, you’ll need to find another messaging service by the end of the year, when the app will be officially discontinued on the older platforms.

So, if you are using any of above OS, switch to another OS where you can continue to use WhatsApp.
